Paula Miller, Thank you Paula.
Description:
She is not available for transport out east.
10/31/09- Update- Cookie has made so much progress. She likes to play and sleep with the other dogs, but she is used to them. When she went to the vet, she doesn't trust any new dogs and becomes aggressive. She is very strong on a leash and is all muscle. She will need a home with someone who will understand her needs. When Bubba and King, 5 month old boxer puppies were in our foster home, she became Mother Cookie. She let them take her cookies and toys and never growled at them. She watched them play and when they played too rough, she would nudge them. They seemed to soften her, and she missed them when they left. She is a foster home with other adult boxers. So we say no dogs, but she does need a special dog to go with her who is not dominant but will play.
Cookie is through with Heartworm treatment and had no problems!!!
8/11/09- Update- Cookie is learning how to get along with the other dogs, but we think as her foster parents, that she would do the best in a home by herself, with no other animals. She loves to be the only dog in the house and play ball and fetch. She LOVES doing that and could go all day. Around the other dogs she gets anxious and gets aggressive at times, definitely strong food aggression. She does get fed in a crate. We are using time out and she is starting to realize the consequences. She is sleeping on a dog bed with the other dogs and she has not got into anything in the house. She is a very good girl. She would be so loyal and happy to be with someone who can take her for walks, play ball and love her. She would have to be watched when going to vet, etc. with other dogs as she doesn't trust them. She has not been aggressive with humans. She is a gorgeous girl!! She will start heartworm treatment in the next 1-2 weeks so will be ready for adoption in about 6 weeks or so.
7/28/09- Cookie is in foster home where Shanna, Janie and Cassie are staying. She has aggression with other dogs and we are working on it. She is a HAPPY girl to be out of boarding!!!
7/24/09- Cookie has gained weight and is ready for heartworm treatment. She has been in boarding for 2.5 months and needs a home. That is not what we want for Cookie. We need to have her outside the boarding to see if she could get along with other dogs in a different setting. She really needs her own foster home or adoptive home. If you have no other animals, then Cookie is the one for you!!! Please help this sweetheart!!
6/18/09- Cookie Wookie has stopped drooling and is feeling better, although she needs to gain weight for heartworm treatment. She is at the vet boarding, going on two months, and can't stay there for the rest of her life. She loves to go outside for walks or runs, and loves to lay on her back in the sun. She is a strong Boxer and needs a secure fenced in area for her safety. She could go on walks or jog with you and that would help her. She would be a very loyal Boxer and we think could learn to trust other dogs with the right training. She, like Shanna, doesn't trust or get along with other dogs or cats. Poor girl has just had a hard life and she is now smiling and needing to find her own home. She needs a home with lots of love and attention, but no other animals. If you spent some time with her, she would steal your heart. Please consider helping this girl into a foster home!!!!
5/28/09- Cookie's vet wants her out of boarding and into a foster home. She is too stressed in boarding and vet needs to know if she improves. She has been drooling when she gets nervous and the vet doesn't want to put her on meds unless needed. She is not good with other dogs and no cats for Cookie. She loves dog cookies and knows her new name. She doesn't drool when she is sleeping or when getting attention or going for walks. We need a home with a man, woman or couple and no other animals to start off and who can spend lots of time loving this girl. PLEASE help us with Cookie. We love this girl and she has the most gorgeous eyes and will be loyal to whoever gives her the attention. She deserves to be happy, happy. Please ask for more info if you are interested. Fill out a Foster Application under Forms/Applications on the left side of the screen.
5/9/09- Cookie is a beautiful Boxer. She was rescued before being euthanized from a shelter. She had been in two city shelters and now is boarding at a vet office, so she is very nervous. She needs some time to gain confidence and know that she is going to be okay. She definitely hates cats, and was aggressive towards other dogs at the vet office. BUT she needs time to settle in and then she may be okay with other dogs. She gave kisses to rescuer and did good with the vet tech and vet during her exam. She is up to date on all of her shots and already was spayed. She was weak positive for heartworms and is being put on heartworm prevention and vet feels that she will test negative on her next test, but is she doesn't then she will need heartworm treatment. So for now she needs sponsors to pay for her boarding and medical bills. (not the best video that will be added soon, but shows Cookie for now)
NOTE: We are not a shelter or pound. We don't have a facility. We are all volunteers who love the Boxers. We have jobs and families and don't have "regular business hours". For this reason, we don't show the dogs until an application has been submitted. Submitting an application does not obligate you to adopt a Boxer, but it does tell us that your interest in rescue is serious. We thank you for being considerate of our time and efforts.
