Special Needs: Heartworm treatment
Description: 3/10/09- Update- On a visit to Connie to walk her and spend time with her, it was the first time something got her attention and she had a spark. It was a cat and she did not like it!! The other thing was a bacon flavored rawhide. Boy did she like chewing on that on the back on her molars. That was exciting to see her react to something besides a loud noise. She kept her eye on that cat and she will not go to a home with one!!
3/9/09 UPDATE- Connie was spayed today and had a mammory gland tumor removed. She had dental work and 4 teeth had to be removed. Her bottom front teeth were rotted to nothing and her incisors were rotten. She now has whipworms showing so going to treat for that. She needs to gain a little weight for HW treatment. Vet thinks prognosis is good and that HW's are not severe yet. Continue to pray for Connie. She can use more donations and thanks to those who have donated already.
2/22/09 After she gets spayed and time to recover, she will need a foster home to help her gain weight and be spoiled with LOVE. She is making eye contact and will now go on a leash outside. Everyday more things show up on this poor girl. Her spine is showing and all of her body is hanging down. Looks like her head and chest should not go with the rest of her body. She is very sweet, licked my hand when I left yesterday, and let me put her head on my chest and hug her. She makes no sounds and she likes to go up to the other dogs and vet techs when we are out walking. She has a soft mat and dog toys in her kennel and they are spending extra time with Connie. She has a long ways to go.
2-18-09 Connie was rescued from a very sad puppy mill situation. She was found in a shed closet by herself with no light or heat. The pain is in her eyes and she is in poor health. She is heartworm positive, needs to be spayed, and she will need dental surgery as most of her teeth are worn down, rotten or broke off. She needs lots of Angels to help pay for her treatment and put a smile on her face. The eyes are just so sad and her whole body is just worn down from having so many puppies. She needs a nice foster home to recover and learn about love and that not all humans are bad. Please help us with Connie and put her in your prayers.
NOTE: We are not a shelter or pound. We don't have a facility. We are all volunteers who love the Boxers. We have jobs and families and don't have "regular business hours". For this reason, we don't show the dogs until an application has been submitted. Submitting an application does not obligate you to adopt a Boxer, but it does tell us that your interest in rescue is serious. We thank you for being considerate of our time and efforts.
